Due to customer demand, JSI has redesigned the previously discontinued ENVY control upgrade as the ENVY 2. The new ENVY 2 is based on the 3000+ Series Technology used in other mainline dimmer control upgrades offered by JSI. "The new ENVY 2 offers enhanced capabilities including a USB-C Tech Port, Relay and LED Dimmer Module options and the ability to use existing building wiring and backboxes when combined with our Presidor Model #PWS-20P-RETRO Wall Stations. NOVEMBER, 2023 • JOHNSON SYSTEMS INC. (JSI) Releases New EDI-60 Control Upgrade for EDI Mark VII Dimmer Racks
Due to dealer demand, JSI has redesigned the previously discontinued EDI-120 control upgrade as the EDI-60. The new 60 channel EDI-60 is based on the new 3000+ series technology used in other mainline control upgrades offered by JSI. EDI-60 has less channel capacity and is slimmer than its predecessor measuring only 1 RU in height compared to 2 RU of both the previous and now discontinued EDI-120 and the OEM Multi-link it is designed to replace. "This retrofit offers a less costly option for customers with smaller rack capacity of 60 channels or less and can be daisy-chained with a second unit for a larger rack with up to 120 channels. All the features and functionality of our popular CD-3000+ are duplicated in this new product", states JSI President, Shaun Johnson.

10 STARS! The venue I run has an old Strand lighting system that has been limping to the finish line over the last few years. It reached the point where we really could not get the motherboards or repair work done anymore.
We researched and found Johnson Systems retrofits for Strand units. Johnson Systems put us in touch with Knight Sound and Lighting, who we commissioned to perform the work. All through the process Knight were fantastic to work with — very clear and prompt communication from start to finish.
Matt REALLY knows his stuff and was able to install everything, including multiple wall presets whilst negotiating a couple power issues. Matt was informative, patient and a pleasure to work with. He provided training which was clear and memorable. Since his training, I've been able to do a large amount of programming with no problems. The system works perfectly.
The actual system itself — the Johnson Systems CD-3000+ and the Presidor Wall Stations — is awesome. The wall stations are beautifully designed, intuitive, yet very easy to understand and use. You can go deep into it's functionality, or keep it very simple when having multiple users who only need basic operations.
I can HIGHLY recommend the Johnson Systems products provided, but mostly I can recommend Knight Sound & Lighting as an outstanding company whom I would work with again in a second. Thank you Matt, Heather and everyone at Knight Sound & Lighting!

(JSI) supplies 20th Century FOX Studios, Los Angeles with forty-one (41) additional CD-3000-SV-RR48 Control Systems to compliment the previously supplied sixty-seven (67) systems in 2014 and 2015. In conjunction with both Fox Set Lighting and Emlight Design, a custom adapter kit was developed by Johnson Systems for use with Innovative/Angkor 48 channel rolling racks as their OEM electronics were plagued with unreliable poor performance and limited capabilities. JOHNSON SYSTEMS INC. (JSI) has released two versions of their CD-3000 Digital Retrofit for the Strand Supervisor CD80® Dimmer. The CD-3000-SV-RR48 and CD-3000-SV-RR96 are designed specifically for CD80® Supervisor Compact Rolling Racks in both 48 and 96 channel capacity. The new products are built around the existing and proven CD-3000 hardware and software and feature a new backplane and metal/chassis that facilitate a quick easy installation into existing compact rolling racks in minutes. Both models feature all the advanced capabilities and "green" power features of other CD-3000 models and offer an optional Ethernet node. CD+M Lighting Design Group recently completed a $1.6M renovation project at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC). The OCCC, which has 2.1 million square feet of exhibition space, is comprised of two buildings joined by a sky bridge. This project upgraded the lighting controls system in the West building, which houses 141 meeting rooms has 1.1 million square feet of exhibit space.
Although the OCCC's other major building, the North/South building, was completed in 2003, the West building was built in four phases between 1986 and 1996. CD+M Lighting Design Group was brought in to make recommendations on the West Building's aging lighting control system.
Crediting the maintenance program set up by OCCC technical service supervisor Greg Cyr and his technical staff, CD+M Lighting Design found that the major components of the lighting system were still in good shape, and that there was no need to undergo the costly and time-consuming process of replacing the entire system. CD+M was also able to reuse existing wiring for the 400 new wall stations that would be part of the upgrade.
For the "front end" controls, CD+M used a Lutron Grafik 7000 centralized lighting control system, which allows for BACnet, DMX512, RS232 and contact closures control interfaces for integration with BMS, fire alarm, occupant sensors and other building management and automation systems.
The OCCC has the ability to divide large meeting rooms and exhibit halls into smaller spaces through the use of movable partition wall panels. The Lutron Grafik 7000 system can reconfigure the lighting zones to accommodate these partitioned spaces, while also providing individual lighting controls.
The system runs with built-in astronomical time settings, and a series of OFF presets have been programmed to sweep through the facility after hours to save energy.
Although CD+M replaced the older control electronics of the existing Strand Lighting (66) CD80® SV dimmer racks and (23) DE90 dimmer cabinets with Johnson Systems' CD3000 & DE90 retrofit control electronics, it didn't replace all the dimmer racks and cabinets. By reusing existing equipment, CD+M estimates that the upgrade costs could be kept to only about 15 percent of what it would have cost to replace everything.
The switch provided CD+M with a new controls package that includes a power saving "stand-by" mode that complies with the International Energy Agency's "One Watt Initiative." CD+M also estimated that this upgrade, when compared to the cost of replacing all the dimmer racks and cabinets, could be achieved at
Murphy Lighting Systems joined the project, providing their experience in integration along with a familiarity with the OCCC West Building system. Their scope of work included the inspection, cleaning, repair of the existing dimmer racks and the installation of the new Johnson Systems' CD3000 & DE90 retrofit control modules.
One of our key goals of the OCCC West Building upgrade was to provide the convention center's technical staff with the flexibility to quickly respond to any lighting issues from anywhere in the 4 million square foot West Building, or from offsite. This was achieved via Dialogic JCT media telephony interface card installed in the main lighting system computer local in the facility's server room.
Now the OCCC technical staffs have the ability to control the lighting system at any time through the use of four-digit telephone codes, untethered from the main lighting control system computer.
For more advance setups, the staff can also utilize a laptop equipped with the Lutron Control IT web-browser based software to quickly reconfigure the lighting to suit the client's unique lighting requirements in any of the meeting rooms or exhibit halls.
OCCC can also provide portable 9-button preset stations to give their clients the ability to create and activate different lighting presets during their event.
The new system includes a fiber-optic backbone between major components and an extensive Ethernet network. To satisfy the OCCC network standards & compliance issues, OCCC Database Administrator, Rick LeBlanc, supervised the new network installation.
